Sonya Deville, whose real name is Daria Berenato, is a professional wrestler who performs for WWE under the SmackDown brand. She earned a contract with the WWE to train at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida after an appearance on the 2015 season of WWE Tough Enough. Sonya is the first openly lesbian performer in WWE.
She has been trained by the likes of Booker T, Billy Gunn, and Lita.
The 25-year-old from Shamong Township, New Jersey previously trained and competed in mixed martial arts since the age of 16.
Deville will be one of the women featured on season 9 of Total Divas which also adds former UFC, SmackDown, and RAW women’s champion Ronda Rousey and Carmella. The series is set to premiere on October 2, 2019.
She participated in WrestleMania 34 in New Orleans, Louisiana where she was a member of the first-ever WrestleMania Women’s Battle Royal which was ultimately won by Naomi.
