Radio host Rich Eisen had some passionate remarks regarding Oakland Raiders wide receiver Antonio Brown. Brown has been missing time with the team during training camp over a helmet dispute after the league banned his preferred helmet model, and Eisen had some harsh remarks for the pass catcher.
Eisen commented on Brown’s rise to stardom in Pittsburgh and urged the receiver to remember where he came from.
“You got a Hall of Fame career here, and it’s not because of your helmet. I know there are so many players who are so superstitious, but it’s not because of your helmets. It’s because you’re a superior talent. Go find that kid who didn’t get any offers essentially out of south Florida, had to go to Central Michigan, showing up in Pittsburgh as a late-round draft pick and beat out Mike freaking Wallace for a fat contract. And the whole Steelers nation fell in love with that kid because of his passion for the game and his desire to be great,” Eisen said.
“Find that guy! Put him in a new helmet and take the top of the offense off for Gruden. Be done with it!”
As a prospect out of North Carolina Tech, the Miami native did not receive any stars from national recruiting service Rivals.com and received few scholarship offers outside of Central Michigan University. However, that didn’t stop him from becoming one of the top wide receivers in the league.
