Texas Longhorns legend Cedric Benson has passed away at age 36. The former star running back, who had stints in the NFL with the Chicago Bears, Cincinnati Bengals, and Green Bay Packers, was involved in an accident late Saturday night in Austin, Texas, where he played college football.
According to reports, Benson and another person died while two others were injured.
Austin-Travis County EMS responded to a call of a “vehicle and person on fire.”

According to reports, Benson crashed his motorcycle into a white minivan. Benson and another person passed away as a result of the crash. First responders reportedly received a call about a vehicle and person on fire.

Law enforcement agencies reported that the crash took place at 10:22 p.m. when a motorcycle hit a white minivan that was pulling out onto the roadway. A
ccording the the Austin-Travis County EMS, there were a “vehicle and person on fire.” By Sunday morning, news of Benson’s death had spread across social media. His former Longhorns coach, Mack Brown, responded to an Instagram post by writing, “We lost a great one way too soon. #RIP”
Benson’s relative Dominic, meanwhile, posted “No no no no no no God no!!!! Why him man!!!!! Not Ced man” on Facebook.
Prior to the accident, Benson shared a photo of his motorcycle on social media which read “My Saturday evening.”
