QB1: Beyond the Lights is a must-watch series for all college football fans. While Last Chance U may get a majority of the hype, the other Netflix original documentary series gives us a more focused look at some of the future stars of the sport.

The series — created by Peter Berg — is entering its third season on Netflix and officially drops on Friday, August 16.

QB1: Beyond the Lights follows three top-tier high school quarterbacks in their final season of preparation before they commit to play at the next level and head to college. It also provides an intriguing look at the recruitment process for some of the top signal-callers.

Season 3 will feature five-star Oklahoma signee Spencer Rattler, three-star Kentucky freshman Nik Scalzo, and four-star 2020 Georgia commit Carson Beck, who is the first underclassman and third straight Georgia commit to be featured on the show.

Season one had the most star-studded cast of the series to date with Wake Forest’s Tayvon Bowers, Ohio State turned Miami quarterback Tate Martell, and Georgia’s Jake Fromm.

For season 2, we followed Georgia transfer Justin Fields, who is now at Ohio State, Sam Hartman of Wake Forest, and Iowa State’s Re-Al Mitchell.

An interesting moment to see in Season 3 should come when Scalzo suffers a high school career-ending torn ACL during his team’s playoff run. Scalzo has been 100 percent cleared to play and is currently practicing at Kentucky. A snapshot of the game appears in the trailer, along with Scalzo admitting he is a daredevil.

“I’m just a very outgoing, adventurous type of kid who is a daredevil and an adrenaline junkie,” Scalzo can be heard saying in the trailer.
