As details surrounding the death of Jeffrey Epstein, the disgraced financier and convicted pedophile who was found dead in his Manhattan cell on Saturday, August 10, reports are surfacing that a “mystery woman” spent hours alone with the prisoner in jail one day after he was taken off of suicide watch.
Forbes reported the news that a visiting attorney noticed Epstein with a young woman, but noted that she may have been a lawyer or member of his legal team.
It was previously reported by NBC News that Epstein paid his legal team to visit him for up to eight hours a day to avoid sitting alone in his jail cell.
“The optics were startling,” the attorney told the outlet. “Because she was young. And pretty.
“If I was him, I would have hired an old bald guy.”
The visiting attorney further commented: “It was slacks and a blouse. Could have been jeans or another kind of pants. But, like, Sunday brunch attire. I think she was there just to babysit him, and keep him out of his cell, and just keep him company for eight hours a day. Which is not supposed to be the way it works.”
Officials from the Metropolitan Correctional Center did not comment on the report.
The death of Epstein has also led to the resurfacing of the longtime “Clinton Body Count” conspiracy theory that circulates on far-right websites and message boards. Investigations into his death have since been opened by the Department of Justice, according to Attorney General William Barr.
Jeffrey Epstein had been behind bars since his arrest on July 6. Authorities were waiting for Epstein to return to New Jersey from Paris and arrested him upon his arrival. The charges against Epstein claim that “dozens” of victims between 2002 to 2005 were are involved in the case which included Epstein allegedly paying minors for sex acts after grooming them. Some of the victims were as young as 14 years old.
Epstein was charged with one count of sex trafficking of minors and one count of conspiracy to engage in sex trafficking of minors. If he would have been convicted of the charges, Epstein would have faced up to 45 years in prison.
The 66-year-old financier was a registered sex offender in Florida.
