Doja Cat, born Amala Zandile Dlamini, is no stranger to the music industry. She signed with RCA Records in March 2014, one year after releasing her first single, but it wasn’t until the summer of 2018 when she was really thrust into the spotlight thanks to her viral hit “Mooo!”

The South African-born rapper released her debut studio album, Amala, in 2018 and then a deluxe repackage edition in 2019.

Shortly after “Mooo!” went viral, “cancel culture” struck Doja Cat as homophobic tweets from her past surfaced on Twitter. However, she quickly owned the mistakes of her past and said that she has learned from her mistakes.

“I can admit I was wrong & I can admit I was YOUNG but behavior like that starts in your home parents will teach you that ‘being gay is bad’ but once I grew up & experienced life on my own being openly Gay means you are a STRONG FEARLESS BEAUTIFUL INDIVIDUAL,” she said in her response on Twitter. “I’ve learned in 2018 to appreciate all good people no matter they’re sexuality or living situation a Good person is a gift from God.”

Now, she is as popular as ever and recently dropped the official music video for her new hit “Juicy (Remix)” with Tyga.
