Antonio Brown is really desperate to find a discontinued model of his preferred helmet, the Schutt AiR Advantage, that is less than 10 years old. A loophole in the NFL’s rule would allow Brown to wear the model which has not been manufactured since 2011 if he can find one in good condition that properly fits.
“Schutt stopped making the AiR Advantage in 2011, and Brown’s helmet is more than 10 years old. But there are AiR Advantage helmets out there that are eight or nine years old, and if Brown can find one that fits him properly and is in good condition, the league will let him wear it,” a report from Pro Football Talk read.
In order to find his preferred helmet, Brown is now asking for help from the public. And if you can hook the star wide receiver up, you’ll get a nice gift coming your way.
“I’m looking for a Schutt Air Advantage Adult Large Helmet that was manufactured in 2010 or after,” the seven-time Pro Bowler wrote on Twitter. “In exchange, I will trade a signed practice worn Raiders helmet.”
We’ll have to see if his search ends with positive results.
At the very least, the Raiders have to be happy that their high-priced pass-catcher has reported back to the team and he’s ready to get back on the field with his new teammates.
“While I disagree with the arbitrator’s decision, I’m working on getting back to full health and looking forward to rejoining my teammates on the field,” Brown wrote on Instagram. “I’m excited about this season; appreciate all the concerns about my feet!”
What helmet he will be wearing remains to be seen.
