Virginia Roberts Giuffre was named as an alleged victim of disgraced millionaire financier and accused sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein, who committed suicide early Saturday, August 10 by suicide in his jail cell while awaiting charges. The allegations came from unsealed court documents released on Friday, August 9, hours before Epstein was found dead in his jail cell, according to Politico.
According to Giuffre, she was recruited to give Epstein massages that led to sexual assault and rape while working as a locker room attendant at President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort. At the time she was recruited, Giuffre was reportedly 15 and the sexual activity reportedly began when she was 16.
Giuffre alleged she was recruited by Epstein’s longtime friend Ghislaine Maxwell to begin the massages.
From the report:
“Where in the spa were you when you were approached by Ghislaine Maxwell?” Maxwell’s attorney Laura Menninger asked at a May 2016 deposition.
“Just outside the locker room, sitting where the other girl who works there usually sits,” Giuffre replied. “I was reading a book on massage therapy. … She noticed I was reading the massage book. And I started to have chitchat with her just about, you know, the body and the anatomy and how I was interested in it. And she told me that she knew somebody that was looking for a traveling masseuse. … If the guy likes you then, you know, it will work out for you. You’ll travel. You’ll make good money.”
While she was traveling as a “masseuse,” Giuffre claims she was also instructed to have sex with several other politicians and people with power. Among those named in the unsealed documents were former Senator George Mitchell, modeling agency honcho Jean Luc Brunel, former New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson, Harvard Law Professor Emeritus Alan Dershowitz, and Prince Andrew.
Former President Bill Clinton and current President Donald Trump have also been linked to Epstein in the past.
Epstein was never able to respond to the claims, because he was found dead in his jail cell in the early hours Saturday, August 10 of a suspected suicide.
Epstein had been behind bars since his arrest on July 6. Authorities were waiting for Epstein to return to New Jersey from Paris and arrested him upon his arrival. The charges against Epstein claim that “dozens” of victims between 2002 to 2005 were are involved in the case which included Epstein allegedly paying minors for sex acts after grooming them. Some of the victims were as young as 14 years old.
Epstein was charged with one count of sex trafficking of minors and one count of conspiracy to engage in sex trafficking of minors. If he would have been convicted of the charges, Epstein would have faced up to 45 years in prison.
The financier was a registered sex offender in Florida.
