Donald Trump has been a frequent commentator on the ASAP Rocky assault case in Sweden, so when news surfaced on Friday, August 2 that the rapper had been released it was only a matter of time until the President of the United States chimed in.

He did not disappoint.

Trump took to his favorite method of communication, Twitter, to address the situation in a brief statement filled with corny puns.

“A$AP Rocky released from prison and on his way home to the United States from Sweden,” the tweet read before the full cringe set in. “It was a Rocky Week, get home ASAP A$AP!”

Sure, it’s highly unlikely that the president constructed the tweet himself, but you know whoever did was patting themselves on the back for those brutal play on words.

Trump had previously chimed in on the ASAP Rocky case when the rapper was being held in a Swedish prison.

“Many, many members of the African-American community have called me, friends of mine, and said, ‘Could you help?’” Trump told the media at the time. “So I personally don’t know A$AP Rocky, but I can tell you he has a lot of support from the African-American community in this country.”

Of course, others believed that his involvement may actually turn out to hurt the rapper.

Swedish Prime Minister Stefan Löfven has “underlined that in Sweden everyone is equal before the law and that the government cannot and will not attempt to influence the legal proceedings,” according to the New York Times.

It’s hard to know whether Trump helped or hurt the rapper’s case, but for now he is free from behind bars. Rocky and his associates are no longer required to stay in Sweden and a final verdict in the assault case is set to be handed down later this month.
