Sakina Karchaoui is a French soccer team who is a member of the France women’s national team in the 2019 Women’s World Cup where she wears the No. 7 jersey. France is the host nation for the tournament, with Sakina providing a promising young talent for the host nation which is on one of the top teams in the world.
The 23-year-old left back — who is the daughter of Moroccan parents — was born on January 26, 1996, in Salon-de-Provence, France and began playing soccer in her neighborhood at a young age. She was raised in the town of Miramas before joining the local club US Miramas.
After two years with the local club, Sakina joined Montpellier and eventually moved to the senior squad which plays in the Division 1 Feminine league.
During her first year with Montpellier, Sakina was named the UNFP Division 1 Feminine Young Player of the Year.
She has made 98 appearances at the senior level for Montpellier with two goals and 24 appearances as a member of the France national team’s senior squad after being called up in 2016 and competing for the country in the 2016 Rio Olympics. Sakina was also on the pitch in March 2017 when France defeated the United States women’s national team, 3-0, to win the SheBelieves Cup for the first time.
