WATCH: Bella Thorne Breaks Down Over Whoopi Goldberg’s Nude Photo Hack Comments

An emotional Bella Thorne took to social media on Tuesday, June 18 to respond to comments made by Whoopi Goldberg about a recent nude photo hack. Thorne shared photos of herself on Twitter after saying that a hacker was threatening to release her private photos.

The news led to Whoopi sharing her thoughts on the issue and saying that celebrities need to be more careful about their personal photos because they are targets.

“If you’re famous, I don’t care how old you are, don’t take nude pictures of yourself,” Goldberg said. “When they’re hacking you, they’re hacking all of your stuff. So whether it’s one picture or a million pictures, once you take that picture, it goes into the cloud and it’s available for any hacker that wants it. If you don’t know that in 2019, that this is an issue … You cannot be surprised that someone has hacked you, especially if you have stuff on your phone. That’s why they’re hacking you.”

Whoopi was not directly blaming Bella Thorne for the hack. She was simply saying this is an issue that people have to worry about in 2019. Thorne, however, viewed it as an attack.

“Dear whoopi, I have loved u for so long but honestly I’m so displeased and sadden by your response to my leek [sic],” Thorne said. “Blaming girls for taking the photo in the first place? Is sick and honestly disgusting. So what a girl can’t send her boyfriend that she misses photos of her that are sexy? Things he’s already seen?”

She then went even darker saying, “Whoopi, knowing everyone’s seen my s–t’ … I hope you’re happy … I can only imagine all of the kids who have their s–t released and then they commit suicide.”

Here is her emotional response.

Despite Bella Thorne’s emotional reaction, the internet appears to be siding with Whoopi.

Bella Thorne needs to put her big girl panties back on and realize just like her nudes didn't break the internet, her tears because Whoopi told the truth wouldn't either. They may trend more than those pictures though.. Hell, she's still not trending. Whoopi is. pic.twitter.com/2bUlcNQkN4

So y’all mad at Whoopi for saying hackers will hack and that celebs in particular should be aware that clouds and etc. are weak than water so trusting it is wild in 2019. Sounds like wisdom and the concept of shared accountability. But y’all don’t like that word. pic.twitter.com/P43UpZIM7S

Bella Thorne: Goes to her grandma, expecting to be coddled.

Whoopi: Keeps it a buck, & calls you out on your fckery.

Bella: Mad, & crying cuz the truth hurts. pic.twitter.com/PQOqb4ITd1

All Whoopi said was that if you take nudes, they are automatically uploaded to the cloud, where, if you know what you’re doing, no matter what kind of protection you put on them, people can get a hold of them.

She never victim shamed, she just said it’s time we live in. pic.twitter.com/YR8kBIgJtV

Mannnnn, you guys got Whoopi trending for speaking some truth. I know you don't like old school perspectives that see through our current age but it's real: everything is out there now, if you think privacy is real anymore, get wrecked when your nudes get leaked. pic.twitter.com/VsO5Bab99g

Whoopi said actions have consequences and now the internet can’t deal. Lol.

This is not the first time that celebrities have had their private photos targeted.

On August 31, 2014, more than 500 private photos of various celebrities were leaked online in an incident known as “The Fappening.” The photos were obtained by hackers from the celebrities’ iClouds. Among those who had their photos leaked were Jennifer Lawrence, Kate Upton, Kaley Cuoco, McKayla Maroney, Kiersten Dunst, and many more.
