The latest entry into the horror film genre gave fans their first look on Thursday, June 13 when Doctor Sleep dropped its official teaser video. Doctor Sleep is the sequel to Stephen King’s The Shining.
The film is created and directed by Mike Flanagan.
Doctor Sleep has an impressive cast that features Ewan McGregor, Rebecca Ferguson, Carel Struycken, and many more. It is set to hit theaters on November 8 thanks to Warner Bros.
“I don’t know about magic,” McGregor states in the trailer. “I always called it the shining.”
Flanagan had previously expressed his excitement to join the Shining series.
“If you’ve read the book, you know exactly why it’s so different but it’s quite a tightrope that we’re walking, I think,” Flanagan said in a previous interview. “I’m having a great time doing it. I’m just going to get the movie out and then turn off the internet for two weeks and see how it all goes.”
Here is a little more about the film from Bloody Disgusting:
In Doctor Sleep, years following the events of “The Shining”, a now-adult Danny Torrance meets a young girl with similar powers as his and tries to protect her from a cult known as The True Knot who prey on children with powers to remain immortal.
The trailer also features flashbacks to the Stanley Kubrick adaptation of The Shining.
Prior to the trailer’s released, the film’s Instagram account dropped a “Redrum” graphic to tease its release.
