Game of Thrones — which first premiered on HBO on Sunday, April 17, 2011, and went on to set countless records since — wrapped up its six-episode final season on Sunday, May 19.
Despite the fact that HBO had offered series creators and showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss full, 10-episode seasons, the pair declined and opted for shortened seventh and eighth seasons, which is shaping up to be a decision that likely affects the lasting legacy of the iconic show.
