Ashley Massaro, a 39-year-old former WWE Superstar and Diva Search winner, has passed away. At this time, Massaro’s cause of death has not been confirmed.
WWE released the following statement regarding Massaro’s untimely passing:
“We are saddened to learn of the tragic death of former WWE Superstar Ashley Massaro. She performed in WWE from 2005-2008 and was beloved by her fellow Superstars and fans around the world. WWE offers its condolences to Ashley’s family and friends.”
According to a source for The Blast, law enforcement officials in Suffolk County, New York, responded to a “rescue call” at Massaro’s home in Smithtown around 5:23 a.m. on Thursday, May 16.
At this time, reports indicate that New York authorities do not suspect foul play and are classifying Massaro’s death as “non-criminal.”
Born in New York City on May 26, 1979, made her wrestling debut after winning the WWE Diva Search in the year 2005. Massaro eventually went on to become a “valet” for WWE Tag Team Champions Paul London and Brian Kendrick and wrestle in a WWE Women’s Championship match against Melina at WrestleMania 23 in the year 2007.
Massaro leaves behind one child, a daughter.
