The Simpsons have a long history of accurately predicting the future. Now, the final season of Game of Thrones is added to the list after footage from an episode back in 2007 has surfaced. The episode was the season 29 premiere for The Simpsons, titled “The Serfsons,” and it gave us a look at exactly what would happen on Game of Thrones season 8, episode 5 — a moment that had everyone talking.
If you have not yet watched the episode, now is the time to back out of the way.
However, if you have, check out how The Simpsons creators were able to once again blow everyone’s minds.
WARNING: MAJOR SPOILERS FOR SEASON 8, EPISODE 5 OF ‘GAME OF THRONES’ WILL FOLLOW AFTER THE PREVIEW.
So, what exactly did The Simpsons predict?
As it turns out, the episode accurately predicted Daenerys Targaryen’s highly-discussed and sudden heel turn. In “The Serfsons,” a dragon can be seen burning the Simpson family’s village to the ground. In episode 5, season 8 of Game of Thrones, Daenerys snapped and used her last remaining dragon to burn King’s Landing to the ground.

There was also this little note in the show’s Game of Thrones-inspired intro.
Of course, predicting a dragon will burn an entire village to the ground isn’t exactly groundbreaking, but it is the latest in a long line of predictions from The Simpsons series. You have to remember that this is the same show that accurately predicted Donald Trump’s bid for the presidency to perfection — including his walking down the stairs and an onlooker dropping a sign over the railing. They also predicted the merger between FOX and Disney. There was also the stunning prediction of the 2018 Winter Olympics where the United States won its first-ever men’s curling gold win an upset over top-ranked Sweden.
So perhaps The Simpsons creators do have a time machine after all.
The final season of Game of Thrones will come to its end next Sunday, May 19, as the battle for the Iron Throne reaches its finale.
