Mexican wrestling legend Silver King has passed away at age 51. On Saturday, May 11, it was confirmed that the wrestler, born Cesar Cuauhtemoc Gonzalez Barron, died during a match in London against Juventud Guerrera.
The match was a part of Luche Libre World’s “The Greatest Show of Lucha Libre”.
After Silver King stopped responding to Guerrera, the medical staff entered the ring and attempted to revive him. While in the ring, paramedics were forced to use a defibrillator.
“They were wrestling and then something just seemed to go wrong. As they were wrestling it stopped and they seemed like they weren’t in sync at all, and the other wrestler started performing CPR. Other wrestlers jumped into the ring to help, and they got a defibrillator out. It was scary, they evacuated everyone but there didn’t seem to be an ambulance arrive for at least 20 minutes,” a witness told the Sun.

Silver King Cause of Death: Unconfirmed
At the time of this posting, an official cause of death has not been confirmed. Some reports, however, speculate that the professional wrestler may have suffered a heart attack during his match with former WWE and WCW star Juventud Guerrera.
“It seemed to be part of the show at first but then he didn’t get up – and then the medical team was on the stage,” according to the Camden New Journal Report. “Everybody was cleared out and lots of police and ambulances were there.”
Silver King was unresponsive for the final moments of the match before receiving any medical attention.
Our deepest condolences go out to the friends and family of Cesar Cuauhtemoc Gonzalez Barron during this incredibly difficult and tragic time.
