However, unfortunately for everyone’s fiercest mini-warrior, she made her ultimate demise at the hand of an Ice Giants in the climactic Battle of Winterfell in “The Long Night.”
And while Lyanna Mormont’s run on Game of Thrones may have come to an end, the actress who brought Lyanna Mormont to life — Bella Ramsey –is just getting her career started.
A scene-stealer since the first time she popped up in season five, Game of Thrones creators David Benioff & D.B. Weiss admitted in the Inside The Episode feature that while Lyanna was originally intended to be a one-scene-character, once they met Bella Ramsey, they realized they “would not be doing their jobs if they kept her as a one-scene character, as he performed was just *that* magnetic.
That decision to further include the Lyanna Mormont character proved to be a prudent one, as she instantly became a fan favorite and remained so up until her death in “The Long Night.”
And now that the episode, and her death, have finally been unveiled to the world, Ramsey has started to pop up in interviews, like this one with Variety.
Speaking to Variety, Ramsey discussed her time playing Lyanna, shooting her epic death scene, and the advice she got from the series star Kit Harrington.
“Kit really helped, as well as Liam, who’s Davos, and Sophie, they all helped me in season 6 because that was the first thing I’d ever done, it was completely new to me, all the vocabulary, it’s a whole new language and they were very supportive,” Ramsey explains.
“I was talking to him after filming, and I was asking him about interviews because they don’t naturally to me, acting is what I do and they don’t come naturally,” she explains. “He said to me, ‘Just to be yourself and tell the truth,’ and that’s something I’ve found very useful and try and do in every interview,” she concludes.
Given the show-stopping perfomance she gave as Lyanna Mormont, we have a feeling that it won’t be long until we see Bella Ramsey again.
The eighth and final season of HBO’s ‘Game of Thrones’ — which first premiered on April 17, 2011 — will conclude on Sunday, May 19.
