This Is The Only ‘Avengers’ Star Who Was Allowed Read The Entire ‘Endgame’ Script

Here’s how big of a deal Avengers: Endgame has become: even most of the actors who appear in the movie weren’t allowed to get their hands on the entire script, or so say directors Anthony and Joe Russo.

While there are a handful of actors on the Marvel Cinematic Universe roster that have been known to drop a spoiler or two in their day — Mark Ruffalo and Tom Holland, just to name a few — it appears that Marvel Studios went to such extreme lengths to keep Endgame plot details under wraps that they didn’t even let most of the cast see the full script.

In an interview with Rotten Tomatoes (where I imagine Endgame will ultimately end up receiving a 101%), the Russo Brothers revealed that the O.A. (original Avenger), Robert Downey Jr., was “probably the only one to actually read the entire script.”

“Part of our motivation to do that is it just takes a lot of pressure off of people. It is hard to constantly censor yourself about what you’re saying, how you talk. These movies are your whole life, it’s everything you’re doing all day long,” the Russo Brothers explained.

“The inclination is to talk about it. So we take a lot of pressure off of people by just saying, OK, the less you know the less you have to mind yourself,” they continued.

While that answer is fair play from the Russo Brothers, the secrecy ultimate boils down to Marvel’s inability to trust their actors to keep their mouths shut. After all, Mark Ruffalo once casually spoiled the big twist of Infinity War while appearing on Good Morning America.

And since you’re here, watch this new spine-tingling mega MCU recap/trailer hybrid that will get your blood PUMPING:

Adrift in space with no food or water, Tony Stark sends a message to Pepper Potts as his oxygen supply starts to dwindle. Meanwhile, the remaining Avengers — Thor, Black Widow, Captain America and Bruce Banner — must figure out a way to bring back their vanquished allies for an epic showdown with Thanos — the evil demigod who decimated the planet and the universe.

Avengers: Endgame, which will be the 22nd film in the 11-year old Marvel Cinematic Universe, will officially hit theaters in the United States on Friday, April 26, although screenings will begin on the evening on Thursday, April 25.
