Katie Lou Samuelson was a standout at Mater Dei High School in California before heading to the east coast to join Geno Auriemma’s UConn women’s basketball program. While at UConn, the future top ten pick was a two-time AP All-American, two-time AAC Player of the Year, 2017 AAC Tournament Most Outstanding Player, and two-time AAC First-Team honoree. She will likely add to the awards following her senior campaign.
She comes from an athletic family, with her father Jon playing collegiately at Cal State Fullerton and professionally in Europe, while her mother Karen was on the All-England Netball Team. Her two older sisters, Bonnie and Karlie, played basketball at Stanford.
Katie wears No. 33 on the court, which is a tribute to the legendary Larry Bird.
