Emergency response units in Durham, North Carolina are responding to the scene of an explosion in the downtown area of a city.
According to city officials, the explosion, located in the area of Morgan and Duke Streets, was a gas explosion. Authorities have yet to disclose what exactly caused the gas explosion.
While initial reports indicate there are multiple injuries, the exact number is not known at this time. CBS 17 reports that both emergency responders and civilians have been injured.
Additionally, there is no word on any fatalities at this time.
Authorities have asked civilians to avoid the area.
