UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov has responded to recent comments made by former two-division titleholder Conor McGregor on social media. McGregor made an insensitive comment about Nurmagomedov’s wife which mocked traditional Muslim culture. In the since-deleted tweet, McGregor referred to a photo of Nurmagomedov’s wife at their wedding and said she was a “towel.”
As you would expect, Nurmagomedov has since responded.
In his response, the Dagestan fighter shared a photo of McGregor with an alleged mistress and called him out over recent rape allegations related to an ongoing investigation in Dublin, Ireland.
“Rapist, you are Rapist,” Nurmagomedov wrote. “You are a hypocrite who is not responsible for your actions. Justice will find you. We will see.”
The photo Nurmagomedov shared pictures McGregor alongside Terri Murray, who claims McGregor is the father of her child. She told the Daily Star that her and McGregor had sex while McGregor’s longtime girlfriend Dee Devlin was pregnant with McGregor’s child.
Nurmagomedov has not fought since October 6, 2018, when he scored a fourth-round submission victory over McGregor.
With his win over McGregor, Khabib advanced to 27-0 in his professional career. His 27 consecutive wins gives him the longest winning streak in all of mixed martial arts. Khabib first won the vacant lightweight championship on April 7, 2018 at UFC 223 when he scored a dominant decision win over Al Iaquinta in Brooklyn, New York. He became the first Russian to win a UFC title. The submission victory over McGregor was his first title defense.
