In addition to the Clinton Police Department, the FBI and SWAT Team also responded to the scene.

Le reportedly held onto the hostages, including “small children”, for up to 12 hours. Clinton Police Chief Ford Hayman clarified that the children in Le’s captivity were released “before the hostage situation came to an end,” according to CBS News.

Following the hostage situation and shoot out, Le was taken into custody by an MHP SWAT Team and later died at a nearby hospital due to the injuries that he sustained in the shooting.

At this time, police have not identified Le’s motive. An investigation into the shooting is currently underway.

The mass shooting in Clinton, Mississippi, is just the latest in a string of active and mass shootings that have plagued the United States of America.

The shooting and hostage situation in Clinton came just hours after disgruntled Henry Pratty Company worker Gary Martin killed five people in Aurora, Illinois.
