Rising middleweight star Israel Adesanya and former 185-pound champion Anderson Silva went head-to-head in the main event of UFC 234 on Saturday, February 9 after a late change at the top of the card.
Current middleweight titleholder Robert Whittaker withdrew from his scheduled fight against Kelvin Gastelum on fight day which led to Adesanya vs. Silva earning top billing.
Boy, did they deliver.
Adesanya and Silva put on a show for the fans in Sydney, Australia with their flashy striking on full display. The two men engaged in a tactical affair with both fighters having their shining moments. Adesanya, however, was finding his success with leg kicks and a strong left hand that left Silva’s eye swollen as the final bell rang.
