Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone has long been a fan favorite. Cerrone, who returned to lightweight earlier this year at UFC on ESPN+1 on January 19, was able to score a TKO win over Alexander Hernandez to earn two performance bonuses. With the win, Cerrone extended his UFC records for most finishes (16) and most wins (22) in the promotion, while also setting the record for most fight night bonuses (16).
Thanks to his popularity, Cerrone appeared for a Q&A ahead of UFC 234 in Australia on Friday, February 8 where he once again showed why the fans love him.
Cerrone was fielding a question from an Australian fan who was telling the story of how his son looks up to Cerrone, wants to be called “Cowboy” and is in search of his own cowboy hat.
The fan explained that cowboy hats were hard to come by in Australia, which is when Cerrone made the incredible gesture of literally giving the fan the hat off of his head.
The incredible moment received a huge cheer from the crowd.
Cerrone currently does not have a fight booked, but he has his eyes set on former two-division champion Conor McGregor.
“This is a fight that I think everyone is going to love,” Cerrone said. “I’m very excited to be involved with him. How am I going to beat him? I’m going to go out there and give it hell like I always do.”
We will have to see if “Cowboy” gets his wish.
