The drama between star wide receiver Antonio Brown and the Pittsburgh Steelers continues to grow. On Friday, January 11, Brown furthered speculation that his time with the franchise could be coming to an end when he unfollowed the team’s official Twitter account, according to multiple news outlets. He had unfollowed the Steelers on Instagram one week prior.
The news comes hours after Steelers’ president Art Rooney II stated that the franchise is considering all options when it comes to Brown’s future and that while he will not rule out a return to Pittsburgh for the receiver, it is “”hard to envision.”
Earlier in the day, Brown had shared a photo with Rooney II on Instagram, so somewhere along the line he must have had a change of heart. Or maybe he is just trolling us all — which wouldn’t be a surprise.
One thing is for sure: the Pittsburgh Steelers do not need this kind of a headache after missing out on the playoffs this season.
If Brown is ultimately traded by the Steelers, the Atlanta Falcons are favored to land the standout receiver which is a scary thought considering they already have All-Pro Julio Jones and promising youngster Calvin Ridley.
The odds to land Brown can be seen below, via MyBookie SportsBook.
- Atlanta Falcons +400
- Detroit Lions +500
- New York Jets +500
- Oakland Raiders +600
- Indianapolis Colts +600
Brown was drafted by the Steelers in the sixth round of the 2010 NFL Draft. Throughout his career in Pittsburgh, the 30-year-old pass catcher has hauled in 837 receptions for 11,207 yards and 74 touchdowns. Any team interested in bringing brown onto their roster would likely have to give up a healthy supply of draft picks. We will have to see how it all plays out.
