If you have never heard of the rapper Melii, it’s time to start paying attention. The rising star from Harlem first burst onto the scene in late-2017 with her cover of the Cardi B hit “Bodak Yellow.” The video has garnered more than 2 million views and Melii has shown no signs of slowing down ever since.

Melli dropped the song “Icey” in March 2018 and racked up 4 million streams before earning a feature on Meek Mill’s Championships album on the track “Wit The Shits (W.T.S.)

Most recently, the 22-year-old dropped the record “HML” featuring fellow New York artist A Boogie wit da Hoodie.

In an interview with XXL, Melii cited some of her musical influences as “Lil Kim, Nicki Minaj, Drake, J. Cole, Amy Winehouse, Adele, Jhené Aiko, Tory Lanez, and Playboi Carti.”

As a bilingual artist and with her energy and catchy flow, Melii thinks that is what will set her apart as she continues to rise in the industry. “I’m just different, I put a lot of faith in God and I believe in myself. I work hard. I’m never giving half-ass energy. I’m bringing diversity. ‘Charlie’s Line’ is melodic. ‘Sh*t Talk’ is bars. You don’t know what to expect,” she said.
