Déjà vu, it’s Alabama vs. Clemson for all of the marbles once again in the College Football Playoff. On Monday, January 7, Nick Saban and Dabo Swinney’s squads will take the field at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California to see who will be the latest program to hoist the trophy.
Alabama is the defending national champion and has won two of the past three years — with Clemson winning two years ago.
But while the two teams are meeting in the national championship game for the third time, it marks the first time in College Football Playoff history that the final two teams standing are both undefeated (14-0).
Alabama quarterback Tua Tagovailoa and running back Damien Harris will be facing one of the biggest tests of their season against a standout Clemson defensive front that includes All-Americans Clelin Ferrell and Christian Wilkins.
It will also be a moment of truth for Clemson freshman sensation Trevor Lawrence, who has the tough task of going up against the Crimson Tide defense. Because of the tough task, the Tigers offense could rely early and often on star running back Travis Etienne.
