Katharine McPhee, born on March 25, 1984, in Los Angeles, California, is an actress, singer, and songwriter, who is best known for being the runner-up on the fifth season of the reality competition series American Idol.
McPhee released her self-titled debut album on January 30, 2007, through RCA Records. The album debuted at number two on the Billboard 200, ultimately selling 381,000 copies.
McPhee’s second studio album, titled Unbroken, was released on January 5, 2010, by Verve Forecast Records.
Following her success as a recording artist, McPhee has also become a successful actress during her career. At the time of this writing, McPhee has starred in five feature-length films: Crazy, The House Bunny, You May Not Kiss The Bride, Shark Night 3D, Peace, Lobe & Misunderstanding, and Bayou Caviar.
She has also launched a happy television acting career, appearing in a variety of projects since 2007. Since becoming an actress, McPhee has gone on to star in television series such as Ugly Betty, CSI: NY, Community, Smash, Family Guy, It Could Be Worse, In My Dreams, Lip Sync Battle, and The Lost Wife of Robert Durst.
From 2014 to 2018, McPhee starred as Paige Dineen in the CBS action-drama television series Scorpion.
In 2018, McPhee made her debut as a Broadway actress when she began starring as Jenna Hunterson in the play Waitress. McPhee will reprise the role of Jenna Hunterson in 2019.
McPhee has been in a few relationships since appearing on American Idol, as she got married Nick Cokas at Beverly Hills Presbyterian Church, in 2008. The couple eventually got divorced in 2014. McPhee then began dating her Scorpion co-star Elyes Gabel until 2016.
In June 2018, Mcphee got engaged to 69-year-old record producer David Foster.
