Is Kendrick Lamar set to release some new music in the coming months? Well, rumors have been swirling throughout the year that some new Kendrick could be on the way and now a since-deleted Instagram post seems to have fanned the flames of that rumor.
An Instagram story from Polydor Records unveiled a list of artists that are alleged to be releasing new albums in 2019.
Included on the list of artists are Lady Gaga, Lana Del Rey, Selena Gomez, Schoolboy Q, and Kendrick.
Check out the post below.
The 31-year-old Compton rapper has not released a project since Damn in 2017. He previously released To Pimp a Butterfly in 2015, Good Kid, M.A.A.D. City in 2012, and Section 80 in 2011.
Kendrick also was on tour throughout 2017 and 2018, headlining The Damn Tour and The Championship Tour (with Top Dawg Entertainment artists).
Even after releasing DAMN Kendrick didn’t slow down. He curated and produced the soundtrack the 2018 film, Black Panther. An album in and of itself, it went on to become a top-selling album, a perfect accompaniment to the film Black Panther.
On April 16th, 2018, DAMN made history. It became the first hip-hop album to win the Pulitzer Prize for music, and the first album that’s not considered “classical” or “jazz” to win the award. Truly a historic moment for not just Lamar, but hip-hop in general.
