Eleanor Nancy Macpherson, born March 29, 1964, in New South Wales, Australia, is a supermodel, businesswoman, television host and actress who is perhaps best known for her five cover appearances for the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue. Due to her incredible physique, Macpherson was given the nickname “The Body” by Time in 1989.
In addition to being a world-famous supermodel, Macpherson is the founder and creative director of various businesses, including her lingerie line, Elle Macpherson Intimates, and her skin care product line, The Body.
Additionally, Macpherson was the host and executive producer of Britain & Ireland’s Next Top Model from 2010 to 2013. She is also an executive producer on the NBC series Fashion Star.
Macpherson has also dabbled in acting in addition to her business ventures and modeling career. In the year 1996, Macpherson had a supporting role in the film The Mirror Has Two Faces. In 1997, she appeared as Julie Madison in Batman and Robin and starred in The Edge . Macpherson also appeared in the 2001 film South Kensington and had a recurring role on the hit NBC sitcom Friends.
