The Final Four of the 2018 NCAA Division I Women’s Volleyball Championship kicks off Thursday, December 13 when the No. 1 Stanford Cardinal and No. 4 BYU Cougars take the court in the first national semifinal at the Target Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Stanford (32-1) and BYU (31-1) previously faced off with the Cougars giving the Cardinal their first loss of the season. Each team has an AVCA National Player of the Year Award contender with Kathryn Plummer leading the top-ranked Stanford squad and Roni Jones-Perry as the standout for the Cougars.
While BYU has already defeated Stanford this season, Cougars head coach BYU coach Heather Olmstead knows both teams are very different entering Thursday night.
“I think both teams are different in a way,” Olmstead said, via NCAA.com. “Obviously, our lineup has changed. We’ve been better offensively being able to spread the ball out. I think we’re playing some of our best volleyball right now and that’s exciting heading into tomorrow’s match.”
The winner of Thursday’s match will face the winner of Illinois vs. Nebraska later in the night on Saturday, December 15 for the national championship at 8:00 p.m. ET.
