There are reports of a shooting at a Christmas market in Strasbourg, France. Two people are reportedly dead and at least another 10 people have been injured in the shooting.
Initially, there were conflicting reports. Mirror has since confirmed that two people are dead and ten have been injured.
Additionally, some reports indicate that an unidentified assailant “opened fire on tourists near the market” and injured at least two people.
At this time, restaurants not letting people out and police are currently on the scene. The police have evacuated the area and cut off access to the main street.
The French ministry of the interior released the following statement on Twitter about the incident, which has since been translated:
“Serious public Security event underway at #Strasbourg. People are invited to stay at home. More information to come, follow the instructions of the authorities.”
The motive of the alleged shooting has not been confirmed at this time.
