Luke Munday, a 26-year-old Australian Fortnite gamer known as “MrDeadMoth”, was arrested and charged for assaulting his pregnant wife on Sunday, December 9. Munday attacked his wife while live streaming Fortnite, meaning thousands of online viewers witnessed the apparent violent incident.

Munday was arrested by police at his Oran Park residence in southwest Sydney and charged with assault. The victim, Munday’s wife, is reportedly four months pregnant with the couple’s third child.

In the video, the woman can be heard asking Munday him to stop playing Fortnite and come eat dinner. Munday responds by getting up from his streaming chair and disappearing from the video. In the background, the woman can be heard yelling “stop, please!” before what sounds like a slap can be heard, followed by the woman crying.

“You hear that, all you people out there? He just hit me in the face,” the victim then says in the video.

Following the assault, police were called by viewers of Munday’s Fortnite live stream. Luckily, neither the woman nor the child was reportedly injured in the assault.

Viewers on the streaming site Twitch reportedly alerted police, who arrested Munday at his Oran Park residence in southwest Sydney.

The woman was not seriously injured but told police she was “distressed” and “shaken,” according to Network 10. Police said two young girls were at the home when the incident occurred.

“I’m very grateful to those people, because I can see the community is showing that they care. Especially, believe it or not, most of them were men,” the victim’s mother told Network 10. “As far as I’m concerned, he should not be around children. He should not have access to children and he should not be around a woman.”

He was later granted conditional bail and is scheduled to appear in Camden Local Court on Thursday, December 12, in Australia.
