Katheryn Winnick, a Canadian actress born on December 17, 1977, is perhaps best known for her role on the History Channel TV series Vikings.
In addition to portraying Lagertha on Vikings since 2013, Winnick is known for her roles in Amusement (2008), Bones (2010), A Glimpse Inside the Mind of Charles Swan III (2012), and The Art of the Steal (2013).
Winnick, who was born in Etobicoke, Ontario, on December 17, 1977, is of Ukrainian descent. She received a degree in Kinesiology at York University in Toronto, Canada.
To date, Winnick’s largest profile role is in the 2017 fantasy drama action film The Dark Tower alongside Matthew McConaughey and Idris Elba.
On Vikings, Winnick portrays Lagertha, who is Ragnar Lothbrok’s first wife and a shieldmaiden. In the show, Lagertha rises to become Earl of Hedeby in her own right, going by the name Earl Ingstad. Following the deaths of Ragnar and Aslaug, she becomes Queen of Kattegat.
In 2019, Winnick will appear on the television series Wu Assassins and the movie Polar.
During her career, Winnick has also made appearances on television series such as CSI: Miami, Law & Order: Criminal Intent, CSI: NY, Criminal Minds, House, Law & Order, CSI, Bones, and Person of Interest.
Winnick also lent her voice to the role of Marie Fischer in the video game Call of Duty: WWII.
