72-year-old David Green of Swiftwater, Pennsylvania, has been identified as the suspect in the Paradise Township municipal building shooting that left one person dead. The victim was identified as 65-year-old Mike Tripus, who was found dead inside of the Paradise Township municipal building after Pennsylvania State Police responded to reports of gunfire. The shooting was originally treated as an active shooting by responding units.

David Green, 72, shot and killed Mike Tripus, 65, inside of the Paradise Township municipal building on Tuesday, November 27.
According to police, no motive for the shooting has been determined and police are currently treating the shooting as a homicide. Additionally, police said that it wasn’t immediately clear how or whether Green and Tripus knew each other.
The Paradise Township’s phone directory says Tripus was a building code official and sewer enforcement officer. Following the shooting, Green was taken into police custody.

The gunman walked inside the Paradise Township municipal building about 8:20 a.m. and opened fire, according to police and township officials. State and local police rushed to the municipal building in the Pocono Mountains, about 100 miles (161 kilometers) north of Philadelphia, arresting the suspect without incident.
State police haven’t said what motivated the shooting, and it wasn’t immediately clear how or whether Green and Tripus knew each other. “That is something we’re still working on right now,” Trooper David Peters told reporters at the scene.
The victim was a longtime township employee, according to Gary Konrath, chairman of the township’s Board of Supervisors. Konrath said he was not in the building at the time but spoke to the township’s executive secretary, who was. Konrath said she told him the gunman is “not someone they are aware of. No one appears to recognize the individual.”
Paradise Township is located in Monroe County, Pennsylvania, which is otherwise referred to as the Poconos.
The reports of Green’s active shooting at the municipal building in Paradise, Pennsylvania is the is just the latest in a string of lockdowns, bomb threats, and shootings that have plagued the United States.
Despite all of the recent shooting deaths in the United States, the nation’s government has yet to make any changes to our laws to better ensure the safety of the population.
