Maycee Barber, an undefeated 20-year-old strawweight out of Denver, Colorado, is one of the promising stars in the UFC’s 115-pound division. Barber, who is appropriately nicknamed “The Future,” holds a professional record of 5-0 with four wins coming by stoppage; two TKOs and two submissions.
After catching the eye of UFC president Dana White on Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series, Maycee is set to make her official UFC debut at UFC Fight Night 139 on Saturday, November 10 at the Pepsi Center in her hometown against Hannah Cifers (8-2).
While “The Future” is just 20 years old, she is no stranger to martial arts.
“I started in martial arts (karate) at the age of three and later transitioned into jiu-jitsu when my family opened our own martial arts school in 2010. From there, I started competing in jiu-jitsu competitions,” Barber said in her official UFC bio. “At 18, I took my first amateur MMA fight and turned pro right after.”
She is currently a second-degree black belt in karate and a purple belt in Gracie Jiu-Jitsu under Rener and Ryron Gracie.
