It happens to all of us, that time where you are both in different directions, and you can’t move forward unless you aren’t together. Breakups are hard, everyone who has gone through one can agree, breakups suck. And no matter how hard we try, we always manage to try to go back or make a huge mistake that we can never take back. We are here to help you get over your breakup and make sure you stay away from making any mistake. Please, take our advice, it will help you in the long run. Here are the do’s and don’ts to appropriately get over a breakup.

Don’t Keep Their Number

You say you may need their number for emergencies, but what type of emergency will you need your ex’s number? You may say you are keeping the number just in case something happens. What could happen where you would call them? They are not your emergency contact. So why are you treating them like they are? Don’t do it, because if you have their number, you are more than likely going to drunk text them and regret it in the morning. Go to your phone and delete their number, you will feel much better when you do.

Do Surround Yourself With Your Friends

This is a time where you are allowed to rely on your friends. You are in a vulnerable state where surrounding yourself with people who care about you and want you to feel better will put you in a better place. Friends are there to find a better part of you and help you fight to get over your breakup. Your friends can show you that you are still cared about in the world, one person can’t ruin your life.

Don’t Stalk Them On Their Social Media

We aren’t saying you should delete every part of your ex from your life. Just don’t be that person who goes through their accounts, looking at their status. We all want to do better than our ex, but it shouldn’t be a priority. You don’t need to know if they are hanging with other people, having more fun without you, or having a better life now that you are out of it. It’s going to make you more depressed. Be smart and ignore their social media until you find it healthy to like their posts.

Do Get The Anger Out

Working out can be a great stress reliever and a great anger diffuser. However, yoga isn’t going to solve your problem. Certain workouts will help you release that anger. Weight lifting, cardio, even kickboxing. Something that requires a lot of movement in your muscles and can let you scream or hit out all your anger. If you do this enough, you may come out looking and feeling better than you did when you first started.

Don’t Start Dating Right Away

agree totally but mine was partly my fault too
should have given it more time maybe…dont know

This is a big no-no. We know it’s hard, you want to have that person you go to every day. You miss that connection and want it back. However, if you start dating right away, it will distract you from your actual life and getting over your past relationship. The relationship can get caught up in your social life, your work, and your home life. You need a few months of a date free period. It also depends on how long you were in a relationship for. This date free time is your chance to find yourself and get a bit of free time to yourself.

Do Find Yourself In A New Way

You must come to your senses and know that you are a better person without someone hurting you. You may not see it right when you break up, but finding yourself during this period will make you happier in the long run. Go do something for yourself that will help you find peace. Whether that’s reading a good book, joining a pickup sports team, even a trip with your friends. Do something that will help you see the good in life and the good in yourself. You will be so much happier when you do.
