Brooke Johnson is the reigning Miss Alaska USA 2018 and will be representing The Last Frontier in this year’s Miss USA pageant. The 25-year-old Anchorage native succeeded 2017 winner Alyssa London, who was the first titleholder of Tlingit heritage. London went on to place in the Top 10 of Miss USA 2017. Johnson is a graduate of Lindenwood University where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Digital Cinema Arts, going on to become the first female photojournalist for Coastal Television in 34 years.
She is also a national ambassador for the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI).
With her platform, Johnson aims to “adopt a platform to educate future generations about self-esteem, mental health awareness and bullying.” She launched the Crowning Confidence project to lead in those areas and to motivate “young women around the country through words of affirmation and reminders of their value.”

Miss USA takes place Monday, May 21 at Hirsch Memorial Coliseum in Shreveport, Louisiana. The pageant will air live on FOX. The Miss Universe pageant will take place at a yet-to-be-determined date.
