Tecia Torres competes in the Ultimate Fighting Championship’s strawweight division and is currently ranked No. 5 at 115-pounds. Sitting at 10-2 in her professional record, the lifelong martial artist looks like a future title challenger in one of the newer weight classes the UFC has to offer. Torres dropped her most recent bout in February 2018, but was previously on a three-fight winning streak.
Nicknamed “The Tiny Tornado,” Torres began martial arts at age 3 when she began taekwondo. She received her black belt in the sport at age 15, while also competing as an amateur martial artist. Torres, who dates UFC women’s bantamweight title contender Raquel Pennington, burst onto the scene with a 4-0 start to her career in Invicta FC. She eventually went on to join season 20 of The Ultimate Fighter where she lost in the quarter-finals to eventual winner Carla Esparza via majority decision.
Torres and her longtime girlfriend are currently engaged.
The 28-year-old contender is a one-time Performance of the Night recipient, 2013 Newcomer of the Year and Strawweight of the Year, and earned the WMMA Fight of the Year in 2013 for her bout against current UFC women’s strawweight champion Rose Namajunas. Before turning pro, she also earned the US Freedom Fighter Championship and American Battle Amateur Strawweight title.
