Barzilai’s biggest foray into the music industry was winning season five of HaKokhav HaBa. She later won the 2018 Eurovision Song Contest for Israel with her song, “Toy.” She beat out competition from 42 performers from other countries involved with the contest, whose Grand Final was hosted in Lisbon, Portugal. Per the contest’s tradition, Barzilai’s win also meant that Israel would host the contest for the following year. During the contest, she won support from many notable figures from her home country, with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Wonder Woman actress Gal Gadot wishing their support, with the latter also asking people to vote for her in the contest, on social media. According to the Minneapolis Star Tribune, Barzilai shouted the following as she accepted her award:

“Next time in Jersualem! I’m happy people chose something different. It’s refreshing,” she said.
