Josh Norman was born December 15, 1987, in Greenwood, South Carolina. Norman began his football career at Greenwood High School alongside future NFL teammates Armanti Edwards and D.J. Swearinger. Norman’s team won the South Carolina State Championship. Norman also played basketball, baseball and track and field in high school. As he prepared to begin his college football career, Norman received no Division I offers.

Norman attended Horry Georgetown Tech to get a head start on his college coursework, before joining Coastal Carolina as a walk-on in 2008. Norman’s brother also attended Coastal Carolina.

Norman was a three-time All-Big South honoree and First-Team FCS All-American. He would eventually go on to be a fifth-round pick in the 2012 NFL Draft by the Carolina Panthers.

In the NFL, Norman emerged as one of the top cornerbacks in the league. He was eventually released by the Panthers on April 20, 2016, after the two sides failed to come to an agreement on a long-term deal. He then signed a record deal with the Washington Redskins.

Norman, who has 312 tackles, 65 pass deflections, 10 interceptions, and 8 forced fumbles throughout his NFL career, was named to the Pro Bowl in 2015.

Ahead of the 2018-19 NFL season, Norman agreed to appear on an all-athlete season of “Dancing With The Stars” alongside his professional dance partner Sharna Burgess.
