The Ultimate Fighting Championship makes its debut in Chile on Saturday, May 19, 2018 with UFC Fight Night 129: Maia vs. Usman. Initially, surging contender and former TUF champion Kamaru Usman was slated to main event the card against Santiago Ponzinibbio. However, an injury to Ponzinibbio on April 21 forced the Argentinian to withdraw from the bout. As a result, former title challenger Demian Maia stepped up on short notice to accept the bout.
In the co-main event, former Invicta FC title challenger Alexa Grasso goes up against former TUF winner Tatiana Suarez.
On the preliminary card, a flyweight bout between top contenders Ray Borg and Brandon Moreno is finally set to take place. The bout was originally scrapped due to an injury to Moreno, before being rescheduled for UFC 223. Of course, the infamous Conor McGregor bus attack led to an eye issue for Borg who was then forced to withdraw. Now, they’re hoping the third time will be a charm.
