Westworld returns for an action packed second season this Sunday, April 22, 2018. Tonight’s season premiere will run for 75 minutes on HBO. In the season premiere, the puppet show is over, and we are coming for you and the rest of your kind. Welcome back to Westworld! Look’s like we have an uprising on our hands. With the hosts in control it doesn’t look good for the humans inside the park — or the company. While the fate of Dr. Ford is still unknown after Dolorous fired that shot, one thing’s for sure… control is an illusion.

Poor Bernard
It’s been two weeks after the fatal fallout from the Season 1 finale gala. Along with learning he too is a host, Bernard is rescued by the Delos team and brought back into the fold. While existing hosts on site are gunned down by Delos Corp in front of him, Bernard is reflecting on the nature of his own existence. While lobotomizing one of the hosts, Delos’ secures footage of Dolorous (literally) executing the events that killed both hosts and guests alike. Dolorous has a price on her head, but I’m more than willing to bet she’ll settle the score with her makers.
When an escape to the park seems too good to be true, Bernard saves the ever lovely Charlotte Hale while the remaining board members get gunned down in an ambush by hosts. The two make their way from the shooting and find another way out. A secret lift in the middle of nowhere only Charlotte knows about gives the two the means out of the park and back to a secret HQ where Bernard learns about a sub-level Charlotte has been operating that logs guests’ experiences by draining the memories of the hosts. I really hope season ticket holders can get a refund.
The Nature of Your Reality
Feeling more empowered than ever, Dolorous is on a quest for vengeance. She casually rides her horse gunning down tourists to capture as they try to flee the park. It’s badass. She has shareholders strung up by their necks as she explains the nature of her new role to play… herself.
As Dolorous and Teddy ride along the park, she explains to him that he is part of a game. It did get a bit fuzzy before which hosts knew they were alive and what ones didn’t for a while. So while she brought Teddy up to speed, she reminds him, he is the only constant in all her memories and she needs him to help take back the world for themselves. With no one left to rewrite her, Dolorous finally is in control of all her memories. Forget guns, she is the most dangerous weapon in the park.
Back in Black
Another one who slipped away from the massacre is of course, William, The Man in Black, the ultimate surviver. He seems uniquely intrigued as to where this new narrative — or lack of a narrative — will lead. After all, he was getting bored with the stories Ford created. Look’s like he’s in for a real treat.
While William makes his way through the park… knowing the stakes are real, he’s finally in the maze he always wanted. A young host with the voice of Dr. Ford tells him “this game is for you”, which is the catalyst for William to start over. Let the games begin.
No One’s In Control
Maeve, who left the train to go back in HQ to locate her daughter in the park, is aligning herself with Delos employees that can help achieve her goal. Apparently, she isn’t the only host who developed a taste for murdering the makers. The park is under no one’s control at this point. Maeve says screw it, and plans to be taken to her daughter despite the cost.
While Delos security makes it’s way into HQ, Maeve talks her way out of being outed as a host. Maeve finds Hector who’s been on a bit of a murder spree, and he joins her to help find her daughter. For a park out of control… Maeve seems to be holding it together.
In a final act to find some piece of balance within him, Bernard re-activates Dolorous’ host father Peter Abernathy to send a request code from one host to another to secure the location of all in the park so Delos can pinpoint the threats. However, this was a ploy to gain access to the system to repair critical corruption within his own host body he suffered during fleeing the gala attack. Oh – and Dr. Ford did in fact bite the bullet. Rogue hosts, no more protocols, and definitely no one left to call the shots. I’d say this season of Westworld just started off not with a bang, but an explosion.
