Moving to California upon graduation, he initially worked in advertising, getting his start with the Goodby, Silverstein & Partners agency; he notably worked on campaigns for the NBA during this time.

Although he was a fan of hip-hop music growing up, Burd initially became attracted to a rap career partially as a joke, with the intention of making a name for himself so that he could go on to write for film or television. In 2013, he released the music video for his song, “Ex-Boyfriend,” which soon became a viral hit, garnering one million views within 24 hours after being posted on YouTube. Its success brought about a series of song releases entitled “Hump Days,” bringing about 32 songs and 15 music videos. Eventually, Burd created a Kickstarter campaign to raise funds for his music career., raising $113,000, exceeding his original goal of $70,000.


2014-2016

On February 19, 2014, Burd hosted his first concert in his home state of Pennsylvania. Around this time, he also signed with CMSN. The following year, he released his debut album, Professional Rapper, featuring artists like Snoop Dog and Brendon Urie. In 2016, he was honored by XXL Magazine as part of their 2016 Freshmen line-up, including him with others like 21 Savage, Dave East, Denzel Curry and Desiigner.


2017-Present

In 2017, Burd released a music video for the song, “Pillow Talking,” which was considered one of the most expensive videos ever created. Around this time, he revealed that he was working on other projects, including a television show pitch. As the year went on, he released an EP called I’m Brain, released under his alter-ego, “Brain.” In2018, he released the music video for “Freaky Friday,” featuring Chris Brown.
