Maci DeShane McKinney, also known as Maci Bookout, is an American reality television personality, also an author and public speaker, who first became well-known with the MTV reality television series, 16 and Pregnant.
A native of Chattanooga, Tennessee, Bookout had her first child, Bentley Cadence Edwards, in 2008 with her boyfriend at the time, Ryan Edwards. The two were engaged in 2009 but the relationship ended a year later. Appearing on 16 and Pregnant in 2009, documenting her pregnancy during the show’s first season, she later appeared in the show’s spin-off, Teen Mom, appearing for all seven seasons, which was later renamed Teen Mom OG. In 2018, it was announced that Bookout would reportedly be appearing on a celebrity-edition episode of Naked and Afraid, a reality show in which a man and woman are tasked with surviving in the wilderness while naked for a 21-day period, filmed during the shows ninth season; although the identity of her partner on the show and the release date of the episode were originally kept under wraps, it was believed she would film in Nicaragua. In addition, it is believed that appearing on the show will not impact her appearance on Teen Mom.
Bookout later began a relationship with Texas motocross racer Taylor McKinney in 2012, announcing they were having their first child, Jayde Carter McKinney, in 2015; they would have their second child together, Maverick Reed McKinney, the following year. While filming an episode during the fifth season of while filming an episode of Teen Mom, McKinney proposed, with the two later marrying in 2016.
In recent years, Bookout has also made something of a name for herself as a writer; in late 2016, she later released her own book, Bulletproof, which was followed-up with I Wasn’t Born Bulletproof: Lessons I’ve Learned (So You Don’t Have To), the following year. Bookout also gained a name for herself with her tattoos, which include a heart, a pencil and expressions like “Bulletproof” and “Learn to Feel.”
