In Austin, Texas, a suspicious bomb package is reported to have killed a boy in his teens and injured a nearby woman, with police believing that a second, dangerous package could be nearby. The case has been compared to a similar incident that claimed another Austin man’s life last week. A bomb squad and robots are believed to be on the scene.
What happened?

“#Breaking: Some of the first images out of Austin, TX, after package explodes, killing teen & wounding woman. Potential second suspicious package nearby. Case is similar to another package explosion that killed a man last week in Austin. Bomb squad & robots on scene. #KOMOnews”
The explosion is believed to have happened around 6:44 A.M. in the 4800 block of Oldfort Hill Drive, which is between 51st Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. In addition to the teenage boy who lost his life, who is currently unidentified, a woman was injured by the explosion and was taken to a local hospital with what was believed to be life-threatening injuries.
People living nearby the bomb has been evacuated by police; CapMetro buses were being employed by authorities to help move some people.
A similar incident happened a week prior
According to reports, the FBI is investigating the case; the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives have also confirmed that they will help with the investigation.
As mentioned, the case has been compared to one that happened last week, with a bomb claiming the life of 39-year-old Anthony Stephan House. Despite similarities, police have not said if the two cases are related, originally believing last week’s incident to be an isolated case at the time.
