Netflix has been working for years trying to create and produce exciting new “Netflix Originals” that can rival mainstream Television and Movie studios. After such a fantastic year in 2017, Netflix is pushing hard in 2018 for the best content overall with new “Netflix Original” shows and movies to binge the year away on.
From new original films like Mute starring Alexander Skarsgård as a mute bartender who must search for his missing girlfriend in a sprawling dystopian city to the action comedy Game Over, Man! from the creators of the hit comedy Workaholics; Netflix will have an abundance of new original movies for subscribers to enjoy year round.
While Netflix is trying hard to create a significant presence in the “movie market,” they still have an iron grip on their slate of “Netflix Original” shows. New titles like Ratched, Altered Carbon, Maniac, and The Umbrella Academy will all be making their way to screens all over the globe sometime in 2018.

10. The Ritual

Originally released in England last year, Netflix quickly scooped this indie horror film up for worldwide release in 2018!

Set in a post-apocalyptic world threat, How It Ends follows a father (played by James) who desperately tries to return home during the chaos to see his pregnant wife. Also starring Forest Whittaker and Kat Graham, this movie will be directed by David M. Rosenthal and is written by Brooks McLaren.
8. Ratched
Starring: Sarah Paulson

From the creator of American Horror Story and American Crime Story, Ryan Murphy will bring his highly anticipated series to Netflix about a young Nurse Ratched long before the events of the classic film, One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest. Following the young nurse, played by Murphy’s longtime collaborator Sarah Paulson, in her first years at the psychiatric hospital, the series will unveil what exactly made Nurse Ratched so evil and wicked. The series is planned for 2018, and not much else has been announced by the company.

After their first string of hits with Adam Sandler since 2015, Netflix was quick to sign another four films with the legendary comedian! The Week Of is the first of those next four films and stars Adam Sandler and Chris Rock as parents of a soon to be wed young couple and follows them not ready to let go of their kids. The comedy should bring laughs and audiences to their screens as all of Sandler’s past have been hits for Netflix!
6. Mob Psycho 100

Based on the hit anime of the same name, Mob Psycho 100 follows a young eighth-grade boy with powerful psychic abilities that must train under a new master and exorcise evil spirits while trying to stay a regular kid. The live-action adaptation of this cultural phenomenon has been highly anticipated by fans worldwide and will hit Netflix in various languages sometime in 2018!
5. The Ballad of Buster Scruggs

Netflix scored a huge win when they secured the rights to air Joel & Ethan Coen’s next project exclusively on their platform. The Ballad of Buster Briggs follows six different stories in an anthology format that will all somehow weave together this Western tale. With the Coen Brothers writing, producing and directing the project, subscribers can be ready for this interesting mix of television and theatrical film when it hits in 2018.
4. Altered Carbon

Set in an alternate future where people are able to store their minds and upload them to new bodies, a lone surviving soldier is brought back after 250 years to solve a murder in a new world he does not recognize. Based on the best-selling book by Richard K. Morgan, Altered Carbon will transport viewers into a new world where technology and life blend seamlessly yet under the surface nothing is as it seems. This sci-fi thriller is sure to have subscribers hooked when it releases in February!
3. Outlaw King

Telling the story of the king of Scotland, Robert the Bruce, Outlaw King will follow the “David and Goliath” style story of how the king was able to save his people and stop a British invasion. Using his bravery and determination to his people, the film will follow his first major victory in the 1307 Battle of Loudoun Hill. The film, which reportedly cost $120 million to make, is directed by Hell or High Water‘s David Mackenzie and will hit Netflix exclusively sometime in 2018.
2. Lost In Space

Netflix announced early last year that they would be rebooting the 1960’s classic television show, Lost In Space, for an updated and modern take on the tale. In May 2018, Netflix will release their take on the show which follows the Robinson family as they crash land on an unknown planet. Left to their own devices, the family must figure out how to survive in this populated and dense alien planet.
