Katharine Drexel Elementary School, a school based in Broussard, Louisiana, is on lockdown as local police search for a person that was seen in the area with a firearm
In a statement with KLFY, Chief Brannon Decou said that, according to a resident’s description, the person reported to police was a black male wearing dark colored jeans and a navy blue jacket. According to the same network, Joe Craig with the Lafayette Parish School System added that it had been a parent in the neighborhood saw the individual and contact the police.
Students had been arriving at school as the lockdown was put into place; they were allowed into the school by police escorts.
UPDATE: According to News 15, the lockdown had been lifted, with police finding no guns or weapons on people questioned in the area.
