Mackenzie Dern an, American Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu practitioner and mixed martial artist who will make her UFC debut on March 3, 2018 at UFC 222.
Dern, a 24-year-old former world champion grappler, made her MMA debut in July of 2016 and currently has an undefeated 5-0 record. In her UFC debut in Las Vegas, Dern will fight Ashley Yoder at UFC 222 on March 3 in Las Vegas. Yoder, Dern’s first opponent in the UFC, is also known as the ‘Spider Monkey’ and is 5-3 in MMA since making her MMA debut in 2014.
Born in Arizona, both Dern’s father and stepmother had experience in combat sports. Dern began practicing with her father by age 3 and began competing at a young age. She competed in the adult divisions by the time she was 14-years-old. Dern graduated from Ironwood High School in Glendale, Arizona.
Dern has won a world championship at every belt level and was awarded her black belt by her father in December 2012.
Following her debut in the UFC, Dern is sure to become a household name amongst mixed martial arts fans.
