Seth Sutherland has been identified as the student who shot and killed himself on the Lake Minneola High School campus bus loop. Instagram comments on Sutherland’s page indicate that he was the victim.
The high school was placed on lockdown while Lake County deputies investigate the incident.
According to CBS, paramedics transported the student to a hospital for treatment of the wound. He succumbed to his injuries at the hospital. According Sheriff’s officials, Sutherland, 17, sent a private message to his mother, father and friends on Snapchat, then posted a separate public message on Snapchat.
A spokesman for the sheriff’s office, paraphrasing the second message, said it read “Rest in Peace. (Expletive) all of you who contributed to this.”
A crisis team, including grief counselors, was sent to the school. A group of parents formed a circle to pray for the family of the student who shot himself.
Sutherland was set to graduate in Spring 2018. We offer our prayers to his friends and family at this time.
